Abdul and I met Lucas Brode on a Among The Rocks And Roots tour stop in Easthampton, MA. Lucas was playing a duo set with Matt Luczak and we were both blown away. We have crossed paths many times since, playing some wonderful shows together here in Richmond and also in New York. I approached Lucas in December 2016 about possibly recording with RAIC in the spring and Lucas obliged. We decided to do one long ambient piece and a shorter more noisier, avant garde piece. After hearing Lucas's ambient works "Dig Into Earth, Swim Into Heaven" and "Waves" not only were we amazed at those efforts we wanted to try and capture that feeling in the studio with him. Also this marks our long time friend and engineer Richard Schellenberg's musical debut with us. After one recording session he handed me a cd of an ambient album he had recorded many years back so when we decided to do this with Lucas I thought this was the perfect opportunity to capture just one of Mr. Schellenberg's many talents. His keyboards were key to this track.
