In June 2017, John Priestley from Rumput and Gamelan Raga Kusuma approached me with an idea for a joint performance between Rumput and RAIC to do a Pauline Oliveros composition titled "Tuning Meditation." Of course we jumped at the offer. In addition to the entirety of both RAIC and Rumput, I called upon heavy hitters Tim Harding, Jimmy Ghaphery and Lucas Brode to make this the largest RAIC ensemble yet at 14 musicians plus two shadow puppet performers. In the great spirit of improv, most of us got lost in the performance and don't really remember what went on. Luckily Casey Canady and Post Cognitive Photography captured the proceedings on video and audio. We truly hope John has another idea in the future for us, but if that never happens we will have the fond memories of this performance.
